Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook is doing extremely well in the mobile market and that 14% of the company’s total ad revenue comes from mobile access. There is a 61% increase since last year of mobile active users totaling up to over 600 million users.
Some think that because there mobile numbers are so high that there might be a Facebook phone in the works but Zuckerberg has stated that “We are primarily an information-sharing platform, not an environment for running apps.” They do not see themselves as a competitor for mobile platforms like iOS or Android. The number of users on Facebook has gone up by 73 million people, and more people spend more time on Instagram then Twitter. This month Facebook hit a record of 1 billion people on the site, but even though these numbers are impressive the stock has fallen 9% since Wednesday, October 24th.
