First there was free Wi-fi at Starbucks. Then there was free Wi-fi if you were able to get a passcode from the hotel you were staying at. Now is the future, and how do we get free Wi-fi? Checking in with Facebook.
In what seems like an effort to “push” their check-in service Facebook has partnered with a few businesses to bring free Wi-fi access to any customer who simply “checks-in” through Facebook.
While the service is currently on a small test run it just seems like a ploy to get Facebook more “Likes”.
It is currently unknown if the test will go into a ful fledged method of accessing Wi-fi at certain locations but a few of the test companies have said that they will still issue passwords to patrons who choose to pass on checking-in.
