When people bought their iPhone 5 or upgraded their phone to iOS6 found out that their phones no longer had the google maps software. There were major problems with the new software apple provided. There were major landmarks not in their right locations. There were many people complaining that they were given wrong directions and of getting lost with the directions the new app was giving them.
Richard Williamson oversaw the mapping team that was responsible for this controversial mapping system. CEO Tim Cook posted an apology letter not long after the release of the map app, on behalf of the company and its lackluster Map performance.
Apparently Senior Vice President Eddy Cue forced Williamson out and now is preparing a new leadership team for the map software.
