The Tumblr page titled, “Humans of New York”, is a blog that features numerous pictures of individuals from the wide scope of people that resides in the city of New York.  The blog has been praised for showcasing the overwhelming diversity that New York has.

There is no doubt that the biggest event to come from New York in recent years is Hurricane Sandy.  Placed in the northeast region of the United States, New York City is not as familiar with hurricanes as states like Florida would be.  Over the past couple of weeks, “Humans of New York”, have posted pictures of the aftermath of the hurricane and those that have been affected.

Taking notice of the popularity that the blog has been receiving even before Hurricane Sandy, “Humans of New York” chose to use their popularity to help out with Sandy relief.  Followers of the website are now welcome to make donations for those affected by Hurricane Sandy.  As of November 12, the blog has raised $85,000.

Not too shabby for a Tumblr page.
