After NFL Player Jovan Belcher Kills Girlfriend and Self, League Rallies on Twitter


Earlier yesterday, NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs player Jovan Belcher happened to kill his girlfriend, 22 year-old Cassandra Perkins, then drive down to the team’s stadium and blew his brains out with one fatal shot to the head.

As news of this tragedy spread through the media, the league kept their fans updated by using the mass social network of Twitter.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Chiefs and the families and friends of those who lost their lives in this terrible tragedy,” the NFL said in a statement that was also shared through tweets from @NFL. “We have connected the Chiefs with our national team of professional counselors to support both the team and the families of those affected. We will continue to provide assistance in any way that we can.”

Other participants of the league such as Tim Tebow, the Falcons, and Chad Johnson have been tweeting their sorrows and condolences to the Chief’s team and their families.
