On Friday it was announced that the Supreme Court would review California’s Proposition 8 law and a case from NY that challenges the Defense of Marriage Act. Both the Propisition 8 law and DOMA are against same-sex marriage and are against supplying marital benefits to those of the same sex who are legally married. However, now it seems that further legalization of same-sex marriage is on the horizon and according to the Mashable.com post, “Recent polls reported by the New York Times show a majority of Americans supporting same-sex marriage. After the 2012 election, nine states plus the District of Columbia have approved the unions.” In regards to Twitter, it exploded with tweets – the majority expressing joy – in regards to the good news that Supreme Court will actually challenge and rule on these laws that still restrict same-sex marriage.
