So Google+ never really took off like they wished it would. We looked at numbers in class and figured out that a ton of people have Google+ accounts, but no one really uses them. One feature has been advertised more lately and used for some really cool stuff. This feature is the Google Hangout. This is essentially Skype or some form of that except you do group chats with multiple people. The article above is talking about how some astronauts did a Google hangout from space and showed people what they were working on and what it was like to live up there. Another popular use of Google hangouts was when the president did his own version of FDR’s fireside chats by holding a hang out and taking questions from select people. These wildly publicized events using this tool should increase traffic towards Google+ but the question still remains, will it ever compete with the other top forms of social media?
